All business entities of the current generation seeking to achieve sustainable development. This development means achieving a reasonable balance between economic and social development of mankind and the environment. In the context of the upcoming transition of the legal framework with regard to the principles of environmental valuation based on the best available technologies become an urgent problem analysis of the status and prospects of implementing technology in domestic enterprises, as well as evaluation of the impact of changes in legislation on the economic sustainability of the enterprises that have a significant environmental pollution. The article presents the main indicators of economic activity of one of the largest metallurgical enterprises of Russia, the value of its environmental risk, as well as indicators of economic and environmental efficiency of introduced technologies, on the basis of which were made on the main findings of the designated problem.
