Out of a variety of risks there are specific social risks associated with social protection of population. The most significant social risk seems to be the one of job loss. To protect against the unemployment risk most countries use different unemployment insurance systems. The use of an unemployment insurance system and the scale of its application largely depend on the country's level of development. Against the backdrop of the escalating global economic crisis more and more developing countries intend to introduce unemployment insurance.
