The peculiarity of Russian companies’ transition to the best available techniques is the need to identify BATs based on comparative analysis of the existing Russian and foreign practices. The paper discusses the environmental criteria of BATs on the example of the beer production and justifies the necessity of taking into account direct and hidden material flows in the life cycle of products or services.
