Abstract. Are analyzed in the article applied in the Russian Federation methods of an integrated assessment of the pollution of surface waters, are considered their main weaknesses. In conditions of high micro-biological contamination of surface waters proposed introduction in calculation of the current indicator of the quality of water, in addition to hydro-chemical, microbiological indicators of water quality.
