This article describes the nature and diversity of innovation, innovation variability: is present a typology of innovation at the level of the emergence and spread. Special attention is given to innovative business diversification as a means of optimal redistribution of various species of resources. Business diversification acts way to improve economic efficiency of enterprises, minimizing the risk of loss of financial stability and , as a consequence, is a tool of management by economic safety of the enterprise. Considered the main directions of diversification: unbound (unrelated) diversification associated (related) strategy centered and horizontal diversification and combined diversification. The author provides a methodological tools and the algorithm to make an informed decision on whether to diversify its business . The use of techniques provided that underlies the decision to restructure the business, will effectively manage the business portfolio, which in turn will ensure the creation and preservation of the necessary conditions for achieving such performance objectives such as sustainability , stability, ability to develop and Sustainable growth.
